Win BIG with GameStop.com! (Day #6)

December 8th, 2010

We thought it would be fun to throw in a little giveaway in our 12 days series! And this is one that the kids will be shouting from the rooftops about if you are a lucky winner! GameStop is letting us give away a $250 gift certificate! But, as they say…WAIT! THERE’S MORE! ;) There is a GRAND PRIZE that you will not believe! The giveaway closes in just 2 days (December 10, 2010) so hurry, hurry! Here are the fun details!

TodaysMama and GameStop have made it their mission to give Santa a run for his money this year. TodaysMama is hosting Mama’s Holiday Wish List, a huge giveaway on their site and they’ve shared their stockpile of gifts with The DIY Dish so we can share them with you.

To win a $250 gift certificate to GameStop, simply do ANY or ALL of the following! You can have 3 entries!

1.  Leave a comment here on the DIY Dish Blog and let us know one thing on YOUR wishlist this year.
2.  Tweet about this contest on Twitter. (You can use our button found at the top or bottoms of this post! Be sure to include @GameStop and @theDIYdish in your post)
3. Tell us how you shared this contest with your friends!

Now here’s what the GRAND PRIZE winner will receive through Mama’s Holiday Wish List! Are you ready for this?

1.  An XBOX 360/Kinect combo pack!

2. The Special Edition Wii combo pack!

3.  Special Edition DSi combo pack!

And in addition to those amazing prizes…A $1000 gift card to Gamestop! WOW!

The annual Mama’s Holiday Wish List contest gives people a chance to read and share heartwarming, funny and inspiring answers to the Holiday Wish List Meme for a chance to win that fantastic grand prize package from GameStop.

Entering is easy, and this link will describe how you can enter to win the GRAND prize by posting a Holiday Wish List Meme. Here is Kim’s:

1. What is your holiday wish for your family?
A: To be happy and healthy! (Although my kids just may have “other” ideas – lol)

2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition?
A: Kids jump in bed with us way too early (5 am?) and we start the day! Orange rolls and fruit for breakfast.  A lot of our big celebration comes Christmas Eve.

3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?
A: Just one? LOL!  A vacation…

4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money?
A: Turning up the Christmas tunes, watching Christmas movie classics, driving around looking at the lights, sledding and hot chocolate, and  and spending time with the family

5. What games did you play with your family growing up?
A: I grew up with Atari! I was the self-proclaimed Pac-Man champion in my day! :)

6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood?
A: “Secret Santa” for another family

7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip?
A: Somewhere WARM!

8. Check out GameStop and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?
A: Disney Epic Mickey,  UDraw Tablet with UDraw Studio, and The Sims 3

==========================

Don’t forget! One of The DIY Dish viewers is going to win a $250 gift certificate this week! As a reminder, here’s how you can enter to win that one:

My number one item on my wish list is a nintendo wii, for my niece. Her dad has been in and out of work this year and can’t afford a wii but she sure would love one. She doesn’t understand yet that ‘Santa’ doesn’t always have the budget for a wii. With my own family to buy christmas for I can’t afford the wii either. Seeing her sweet smile light up on christmas sure would be the best gift anyone could ask for.

If I HAD to pick something for myself….some peace and quiet time and a maid to clean the house!! lol

    5. When we were younger my sister and I played card games with my grandma almost every day. Our favorites were rummy, go fish and war. It was so much fun. And we had the old school sega genesis growing up that I’d play with my uncles. I was a little pro at mortal combat (can’t play it worth beans nowadays) and altered beast–I was so impressed when I could get to the level where you play as a bear! Though a simple game you played as awesome things like were-wolves and dragons, killing the bad guys and beating a boss and the end of the simple, short level–games have come so far in 15 or so years!

I would really like a kindle. I don’t read as often as I used to and I really think having all my books in one portable device would give me the chance to read when I am running around. If I can get into a book in the first place I know I will finish it.

I too would like something for my husband, something he would enjoy crafting with, or a game he could play with the grandkids. I am not housebound yet, but I do have bad lungs, and he runs around and does 99% of everything for me, so I can rest and knit, etc, sew…that kind of stuff, without exerting myself. He is a jewel and deserves more than he gets . I sure would love to surprise him with something great. For me, perhaps a nice serger so I can sew for our great grandkids. We have 23 …age 6 and under.

For my own family I hope this first Christmas, without my Mom, that we can all focus on our blessings and not on our sadness with missing her. She would want it this way.

Without a doubt I would wish for the health of my husband. For the last year he has had major health problems, 3 surgeries on his spine and the doctors still don’t know what’s wrong with him. We have 6 children and this has put an incredible stress on our whole family. I know this isn’t anything anyone can give me, but it’s still MY wish. If I win this, it would go to my children. What a fun family giveaway. Someone is gonna be a very very lucky winner in the eyes of their children….Lets see what is on my Christmas wish list. I want Moniogram Wizzard with extended features software program for my embroidery machine. So I can do better lettering and monograming. But I am sure Santa isn’t bringing it…But it is still at the top of my list…

On my list this year are travel bobbins for my new travel lace making pillow. Hand made in bone and wired with gorgeous green wire, scrumptious! If I could have anything, money no object, it would be a top of the range sewing machine, with embroidery capability, and one I could quilt on. Mine is a bottom of the range beginners one, and I love it, but its OLD and BASIC, bit like me really!

Last year I asked for a larger sewing/craft/quilting studio. I got that by taking over the unused basement family room. This year I need a more organized studio. I’m sure Santa and his elves could come up with a more organized way of storing all my fabric…I mean…look at the amount of toys they have to store each year! The HAVE to have a better system!

WOW! What a giveaway!!! My bff of 25 years (born and raised together) passed away 5 years ago and her mother gave me a charm that had belonged to her. I am a sahm, and with the economy we’ve struggled and have not been able to treat each other to gifts for Christmas, birthday’s ect. We decided we’d much rather make sure our kids have the fun like we did growing up. If money was no concern and we were doing something for each other this Christmas, I would ask my husband to buy me a James Avery Charm bracelet and have them attach her charm to it.

My mom sent me the link to your blog and I have to say I LOVE it. I have to limit my time on it so I don’t spend the whole day looking at ideas without doing any of them :-) .

On my Christmas wishlist is the KODAK sport HD video. That’s only because I already broke down and bought the Cricut last month so I could use it to make my Christmas gifts!

I am 67 and a widow, my christmas wishes are not for me but for my children and grandchildren. My 8 year old grandaughter wants a Nintendo DSI so the $250 dollars would be great and I could by her what she wants. I have been trying to christmas shop for awhile so I would have plenty of time to pay for everything but most don’t tell me what they want until the last minite. What a neat give-away! I think the thing I need is a better storage solution for the crafty things I already have. Right now, they are poked here and there in almost every room of the house. In drawers and baskets, in bags and boxes in the closet. I need something (a cabinet, bookcase, etc) to organize it all better.

It’s hard to have a wishlist these days. I would love to have the Brother 10 needle embroidery machine. They are amazing machines. But truly, I would love to repaint rooms and rearrange my daughter to my sewing room, my son into my daughter’s old room, and I get part of the play room. Whew! Need warmer weather again to paint, muscles to move furniture, and decorating ideas. Thank goodnes for DIY for your great ideas.

The first thing on my “Christmas Wishlist” would be for my husband to feel better. I miss talking and planning for the future with my buddy and best friend. But since that is not going to happen… I would love a new sewing, embroidery, and quilting machine. The GameStop card would be great for my grandson who at 10 years old loves games. Look out Bill Gates here comes the future competitors!
    Merry Christmas to all!

I would LOVE a new embroidery machine. I have this poor little embroidery machine that is barely making it. I love making things for people, having my machine makes that very difficult. I am one of those people that really gets more joy from giving than getting. I am way more excited about maybe winning something that my kids would love, like the gamestop card or system, than anything I could win for myself. The odds of winning one of those are still better than getting a new machine!! :)

Actually, I am giving things away this year. A bike I don’t ride for a neighbor girl, an exerciser sitting idle for someone who will use it, fabric and trims for a quilting neighbor, baked goods for those who don’t bake anymore, etc.
This year I would just like a JOB so I don’t worry my kids. I am still trying to make a nice Christmas with what I have on hand and what I can make. Baking, singing, just being together with the two that are coming home–one from Middle East and one from college and talking to the ones in Ohio…that will be the best part. Blessings to all.

Thanks Ladies for sharing your great holiday ideas with us! I love them all!
I hope to get a Cuisinart (?) Griddler this year for Christmas. I know it is crazy to ask for an appliance for Christmas, but I love kitchen gadgets and appliances! Also, I can see a “Griddler” making about 50% of my meals a lot easier :)
Thanks for what you do, and I wish you a Christmas filled with blessings!

It is funny, until 4 months ago a wii for my daughter and myself was #1 on my wish list. After spending my wii money to sponsor 3 children in the Bugabo Village in Uganda, my Christmas wish has one item on it. The 9,000.00 it will take to did a borehole for a well so they can have drinking water that won’t give them worms. So very thankful to be who I am, where I am with what I have. Merry Christmas to all of you beautiful ladies. Thank you for your crafts, the bring alot of joy. May you all be blessed.

When I was a kid we would always put up our tree on Christmas Eve. Once we lived in a house with a concrete floor and kept knocking the ornaments off the tree. Easy to do with 5 kids. So my Mom started the tradition of popcorn balls wrapped in colored cellophane. It was a family affair. My Mom would make the balls (we did as we got older), the kids would wrap, Granny would tie on the bows, Dad would take pictures and then we would all hang them on the tree.

This year I would like to wish for peace for Christmas. I know this sounds cliche and you’re probably rolling your eyes, but as a full time mom and full time nursing student getting an accellerated bachelor’s degree I am in great need of peace. This has been a crazy year and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. I’d just like some peace so that I am able to be ‘present’ with my husband and two girls to enjoy the Christmas season and be the best mom I can be.

All I want for Christmas is to make people feel appreciated. Let me explain. I am a disabled female of 46 years and I shop in thrift stores a lot. Every year I make many different truffles, peanut butter balls, cookies of all kinds, etc. and give them to friends and family. This year; however, I have decided to give this gift to the many volunteers that I have met while shopping at their thrift stores. These people do not get much recognition and they volunteer all year long. They are always friendly and willing to help any way they can. If I can brighten their day and let them know that people appreciate their time and service then that will warm my heart. ;o) Isn’t that what Christmas is all about, lol. If you just read this, please do something kind or special for a volunteer or someone you know deserves to be recognized.

This year’s Christmas wish is two-fold and cheap since we’re scrimping A LOT and decided on NO gifts except for the lil ones; one that my hubby continues to be employed in this terrible economy in Florida and second that my two lil girls (5wks and 21mo) are happy and healthy in 2011. These wishes aren’t as fancy or flashy as those in my past but so much more important and precious!

My hubby has been wanting a game machine for so long. Mostly I’ve avoided it because of the cost. But to win one? That would be the best! Of course my son would totally love it too.

    My Christmas wish… well it actually came true yesterday. We thought my husband was going to lose his job, but his meeting with his manager yesterday told him just the opposite. No increase in his pay or position, but we’re so grateful he’s not unemployed. {Phew!}

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

The age old question of “What do you want for Christmas?” is very difficult to answer. I always am thinking about what I am going to get for the kids, what they need and want. Not stopping to think about what I want or need. I have been trying to do better at that. But, I need to work on that. I think if I were to answer truthfully I would say I would like my kids to all be healthy and happy. Well adjusted after our big move. As well as I would like to find myself and be truly happy. I always envisioned I would do this romantically while on vacation in Italy. But, that has not come to fruition. YET… But, I am saving for it. I have plans for it and if there were one thing I want it is to travel and experience life to its fullest. To stop existing day to day and live.
So, if Santa is asking a trip to Italy would be just great…
