Thanksgiving Week Post

November 23rd, 2010

Good morning!  If you are celebrating Thanksgiving this week, we wish you a very happy one.  This week we are posting 2 video clips of a recent segment on KSL/NBC’s Studio 5 program.

Remember our 1st episode of Season 2 had you making owl pin cushions! Watch how Kris showed Studio 5 viewers how to take that same pattern and make an “owl garland”, oversized stuffed animals, and more — all with the same pattern!

Following that first segment on Studio 5, we both had a chance to sit with Brooke and Darin to give them “the dish” on what happened AFTER the Nate Berkus Show episode. They wanted to see what all of those items really looked like in our homes once we got back from New York. So here it is! (Oh, and if you watch very closely at the beginning of the segment, you’ll catch Kim wiping lipstick off of Kris’ teeth! Little did Kim know that the cameras were rolling! Ahhh…the beauty of live television! So when you see us all laughing about it at the beginning, that’s what happened. :) Hey, isn’t that what sisters are for? We craft together…and wipe lipstick off of each other’s teeth. :)

On a personal note, our grandmother passed away a few days ago and it has been a difficult, yet sweet time to remember her beautiful life. She was our confidant, cheerleader, and one of our very dearest friends. It’s certainly a time for reflection for many reasons. We are grateful for family and good friends.

Have a wonderful week,
Kim & Kris

    Dear Kim and Kris -

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet grandmother! Please know that I will keep her and your families in my thoughts and prayers. I completely understand the closeness you shared with your grandmother. I shared that same closeness and friendship with mine. She is 103 years old and I’ve noticed that since her bout with pneumonia in October, she is really frail. I visit her every week in the nursing home and my last few visits with her have been heartbreaking. She no longer knows who I am. The first time I realized she didn’t know me, I had to turn away because I didn’t want her to see me cry. So I pray that the wonderful memories you shared with your grandmother help you both through this sad time.

So sorry to hear of you grandmother’s passing. Both of my grandmothers died when I was very young. We need to be thankful for modern medicine which allows people to live longer, rich, full lives. Be grateful that you had her as long as you did. Cling to each other when the going gets tough. You are both in my prayers.

Dear Kim & Kris, I am so sorry to hear your grandmother has past away. Grandmothers are the best friends and moms in the world to us all and I’m sure yours was the greatest! Maybe you both could create a u-tube about her favoite crafts and sewing projects in her memory. My prayers and thoughts are with you both and your familys during this hard time. I wish you both and your family’s a wonderful Holiday Season, and I’ll be watching your emails, crafty projects and TV shows appearences for hopefully years to come. Thanks and God Bless You Girls, Susan Z. NJ

Kim & Kris, My condolences on the loss of your grandmother. There is no question that you all are in our prayers. You have become part of our lives; and, as such we grieve with you. However, you two are all about imagination and creation. Let’s celebrate your grandmother by creating something of her life. We’ve all lost loved ones and the holidays bring them back to us. Maybe, we could create something memorializing, honoring, and celebrating their lives. God Bless. Nancie, Texas.

First, I would like to say that my sympathies are with both of you and your families. I am so sorry about the loss of your Grandmother.

What a great segment! These owls are terrific and can be used in sew many ways! Have you thought about using them for coasters, pockets on a dress or shirt, or purses to name a few more! I think I may make coasters for my Father if I have time! Thanks for the inspiration! Great project! Hugs, Joyce McLamara

I just found you via itunes podcast and I read about your dear Grandmomma. I am so sorry for your lost. I know how hard that can be. I pray that the Lord continues to comfort you all and all of your family.

I want to thank you for the owl pattern. I don’t know why but I have gone “bonkers” over the crafty owl. I just love them to pieces and this is a great way to showcase him in my home. and a reason to infuse with a brighter and bolder color punch too. Thank you for sharing your talents with us all. Be blessed.
    Sincerely,
